General description
This disease is also called “Corny Feet” as the main symptom is thickening and hardening of the footpads. First symptoms appear at an age of 10 weeks to 12 months (Dogue de Bordeaux) and at an age of 4-9 months (Irish Terrier and Kromfohrländers). Affected dogs suffer from painful cracks and crevices sometimes leading to secondary infections.

Detailed description
This disease is also called “corny feet” as the main symptom is thickening and hardening of the footpads. First symptoms appear at an age of 10 weeks to 12 months (Dogue de Bordeaux) and at an age of 4-9 months (Irish Terrier and Kromfohrländers). Affected dogs suffer from painful cracks and crevices sometimes leading to secondary infections. Additionally in Irish Terriers and Kromfohrländers, nail growth is accelerated so that nails are deformed and crumbly. As footpads and nails were cared for lifespan and quality are normal.
