Leukozyten-Adhäsionsdefizienz Typ III (LAD3)
Leukocyte adhesion deficiency type III (LAD3)
General description
Leucocyte adhesion deficiency (LAD3) is an inherited immuno deficiecy disease. The animals are unable to form pus or neutrophilia. Affected dogs develop severe infections early in life, due to a weak immune system. Those infections persist even when high doses of antibiotics are applied.

Detailed description
Leucocyte adhesion deficiency (LAD3) is an inherited immuno deficiecy disease. It is cause by a recessive mutation that impairs cell to cell adhesion for leucocytes. Thereby, chemotaxis does not take place and granulocytes are unable to migrate to the site of the infection. The animals are unable to form pus or neutrophilia. Affected dogs develop severe infections early in life, due to a weak immune system. Those infections persist even when high doses of antibiotics are applied.
