These patterns are called from lightest to darkest: \u201efew spot leopard\u201c, \u201eleopard\u201c, \u201esnowcap blanket\u201c, \u201eblanket with spots\u201c, \u201evarnish roan (marble)\u201c, \u201esnowflake\u201c, \u201efrosted\u201c, \u201especkled\u201c and \u201emottled\u201c. Homozygosity for LP (LP\/LP) is directly associated with congenital stationary night blindness (CSNB) in Appaloosa horses. Heterozygous carriers (LP\/lp) are not affected.
