The appearance of those marks can vary in some breeds. Large black areas with small tan-points are called black&amp;tan, while the occurrence of large bright areas with a black saddle on the dogs back is called saddle-tan accordingly. This difference can be determined genetically in Welsh Corgi and Basset Hound.<\/p><p>The causative allel for saddle-tan, which was found in wolves as well, is dominant to the recessive duplication, that is responsible for black&amp;tan.
