Dry Eye Curly Coat Syndrome (CCS) is already apparent at birth in affected puppies. Typical symptoms include a rough, curly coat with hair loss, dry and inflamed eyes caused by a lack of tear production, smaller body size, and partially painful changes to the paw pads, claws, and teeth.<\/p>

Detailed description<\/summary>

Affected puppies have unusual coat (rough and curly)<\/strong> and symptoms of keratoconjunctivitis sicca<\/strong> (inflammation of the conjunctiva\/cornea due to lack of tear fluid<\/strong>). Moreover, affected puppies also appear smaller<\/strong> than their littermates. Hair loss and rough coat lead to frequent scratching<\/strong>. Changes to the pad skin and claws<\/strong> cause pain and lameness.
