Achromatopsia (day blindness) (ACHM)<\/h1>

General description<\/strong><\/h4>

Cone cells of the retina, which are responsible for colour vision, are not developed properly. These cells are most important for vision in daylight conditions, which is why this disorder is also called \u201cday blindness\u201d. <\/p>

Detailed description<\/summary>

Achromatopsia ACHM is a congenital disease in which the cone cells of the retina, which are responsible for colour vision, are not developed properly. These cells are most important for vision in daylight conditions, which is why this disorder is also called \u201cday blindness\u201d. Initial symptoms are noticeable in affected dogs from 8 - 10 weeks of age. The dogs are unable to see at daylight. They avoid bright light conditions because it could cause pain. In low light conditions their visual function is comparable to normal dogs.<\/p><\/details><\/div><\/div>
