General description<\/strong><\/h4>

A genetic variant of the ADAMTS2 gene has been found to be associated with Dermatosparaxis Ehlers-Danlos-Syndrome (EDS) in the breed Doberman Pinscher. Ehler-Danlos syndromes are a group of connective tissue disorders, which can also be found in humans. An affected dog exhibited hypermobile joints, loose and hyper-elastic skin with several wounds and large atrophic scars. The dog developed many lacerations caused by minimal trauma. In addition, bilateral ocular chemosis and elevation of the nictitating membranes were noted. The dog suffered a severe degloving injury to the skin at the age of few months and was subsequently euthanized.<\/span><\/p>
