In March 2026, a <strong>novel outbreak<\/strong> of <strong>raccoon dog and fox amdoparvovirus (RFAV)<\/strong> among Doberman Pinschers in Serbia was reported. Meanwhile, the first reports have also come in from Croatia and Bulgaria.<\/p><p>So far, only <strong>Doberman Pinschers<\/strong> have been reported as affected dogs. It is currently unclear whether other breeds may also be susceptible. The exact <strong>modes of transmission<\/strong> have <strong>not<\/strong> yet been <strong>conclusively determined<\/strong> either.<\/p><p><strong>Possible symptoms<\/strong> include:<br>\ud83d\udd39 Eye and nasal discharge<br>\ud83d\udd39 Weight loss and poor coat condition<br>\ud83d\udd39 Liver dysfunction<br>\ud83d\udd39 neurological abnormalities<br>\ud83d\udd39 Corneal edema<\/p><p>The infection can become chronic and often leads to death in affected animals. The incubation period is about <strong>two weeks to two months<\/strong>; however, the virus may remain detectable in the blood for a longer period of time.<\/p><p>\ud83e\uddea<strong> LABOKLIN <\/strong> <strong>is now <\/strong><strong> offering <\/strong><strong> a <\/strong><strong> PCR test for amdoparvoviruses <\/strong>.
